NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The ABC (Access, Boost, Charm) Initiative Grant & Loan Program, from the City of North Vernon, Indiana, is officially launching! The funding for this grant comes from the sale of the ETC building on O&M Ave.
The initiative was announced by North Vernon Mayor Shawn Gerkin and Jennings County Economic Development Commission (JCEDC) Director Kathy Ertel on March 3.
“This bold new initiative will provide a lot of community impact, invest in development downtown and I really think it will be a benefit for the community as a whole,” said Mayor Gerkin.
Access, or the “A” in ABC, will support projects that improve accessibility within North Vernon, such as installing ramps, upgrading bathrooms, among other improvements. Projects can receive up to $10,000 with a dollar-for-dollar match.
Boost, or the “B” in ABC, is a low-interest loan program designed to support building improvements and redevelopment efforts. Boost grants can reach up to $100,000.
Finally, “C” or Charm, refers to aesthetic enhancements such as façade upgrades, painting, landscaping, and more. Grants can reach up to $7,500 with a dollar-to-dollar match.
