Jennings County Storm Spotter Weather Training
February 24, 2018·
“Tornado season is just around the corner,” said Dave Tucek, Warning
Coordination Meteorologist from the National Weather Service (NWS) in Indianapolis.
“It’s important that everyone is aware, prepared and responds to severe weather.”
The National Weather Service, partnering with the Jennings County Emergency
Management Agencies (EMA), will conduct severe storm spotter training from 12:30
p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 24. The training is free, open to the public, and
will be held at the Public Library in North Vernon, 2375 N SR3.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Dave Tucek will describe cloud patterns
and radar signatures associated with severe weather, how to report severe storms and
how to remain safe.
“Awareness and preparedness are keys to safety,” said Jerry Shepherd, Director
of the Jennings County Emergency Management Agency. “And volunteers watching
the sky and reporting severe weather helps increase everyone’s safety,” added
Shepherd.
